Every week I send the Open Athletes brief: one honest read on sport, building, and the people behind both.
What I'm building
Most of my time goes to Open Athletes: a network, a show, and a weekly brief for the people building what comes next in sport.
On the side, I make a few small things I care about: Athletes Fund, MindReady, and Forward Deploy.
Things I believe (right now)
- Practice is the work. There is no separation between training and performance. Practice is play.
- Show up ready. Be early, stay present.
- Details are everything. Small things become big things.
- Play the long game with yourself. Building by yourself is like shooting hoops in your driveway. Nobody's watching when you make a shot or miss one.
- Cut the noise. Fewer meetings, less distraction, more focus on what actually matters.
- Done is better than perfect. Just get it done, ship it, test it, learn from it, move forward.
- Do less, better. Usually, less actually is more.
- Stay consistent. Same time, same energy, same focus, same drive, every day. This will lead to extraordinary results.
- Master your tools. Know them so well they disappear. This is your art.
- Respect the work. There's a reason you want your idea to succeed. Follow that, you're usually right.
- Stay nimble. Move quickly, no excess weight, adapt quickly.
- Teach what you learn. Pass the playbook forward, you might learn something.
- No fake hustle. Just keep your head down and work extremely hard.
- Play with joy. Humor and love fuel endurance.
- Work is at its best when you enjoy the people you do it with. This is more important than money.
- Be a pro. Someone is always watching and people remember. Be kind, be yourself, be courteous always.
